The Military History Society of Ireland was founded in 1949. The aim of the Society is to promote the study of military history, and in particular the history of warfare in Ireland and of Irishmen and women in war. The flagship of the Society, The Irish Sword, is a twice yearly publication, renowned for its scholarly treatment of military history.

Established in 1974, Griffith College is Ireland's largest independent third-level institution with locations in Dublin, Cork and Limerick.
The main Dublin campus is located within a mile of St. Stephen's Green on Dublin's South Circular Road. Situated on seven acres and offering a wide range of amenities, it is a historic site with original campus buildings dating back to 1813.
